What We Do

Gabrella Manor is a full-service wedding and event venue on five private acres just north of the Birmingham airport. Our estate blends a vintage 1920s home with purpose-built spaces for ceremonies, receptions, and everything in between — the Arbor for outdoor "I dos," the Courtyard for intimate gatherings, the Pavilion for large-scale celebrations, and the home itself for getting-ready suites, dining, and dessert. Behind the scenes, our team handles the details — coordination, catering, floral and decor, notary, day-of coordination, and more — so your day runs the way you want it.

We host weddings, receptions, rehearsal dinners, and private events, with flexible spaces that accommodate anywhere from an intimate gathering of 25 to a celebration of 200.

Our History

The Bundy House

Gabrella Manor began as the Bundy House, built around 1938 for original owner Robert C. Bundy and designed by a Dallas architect in the Spanish Colonial Revival style — a terra cotta roof, a turreted entry with patios and terraces, murals and stained glass throughout, a grand staircase, and artistic tile scenes framing the fireplaces. The Bundy family was known across Birmingham for entertaining guests and visiting dignitaries, and the home was built for exactly that: gathering people together in style. The estate sits on the edge of the Roebuck Springs Historic District and was recognized in an application to the National Register of Historic Places in 1998.

From Family Home to Wedding Venue

Current owners Brenda Jones and Steve Johnson were married at the home in December 1997 — the very first wedding held there — and later renamed it Gabrella Manor in honor of Brenda's grandmother. What started as their own wedding day has grown into 29 years of hosting celebrations. In 2002, the Pavilion was added to give every guest a place to gather together in one space, and the original Batchelder tilework on the Great Room and Club Room fireplaces has been carefully preserved — a detail guests still stop to admire today.
